“In February 2009 television will change the way its signal is broadcast over the air,” Shimkus explained. “If you have cable or satellite, you shouldn’t have to worry about this, as your company will take care of any issues.
“However, if you rely on an antenna of any kind to receive your television broadcasts, then you may need a digital convertor box,” he noted. “New TV sets have digital convertors built in, but older models do not. That’s who will need a digital convertor.
“The federal government, who mandated the change from analog to digital television, is issuing $40 coupons to help pay for the digital convertor boxes. Stop by one of these sessions to sign-up for a coupon,” Shimkus said.
Sessions will be held on Wednesday, August 27: 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Susnig Center, 806 East Franklin Street, Jerseyville
There will not be a formal presentation, feel free to stop by anytime during the session.
