JCH emergency room expansion project begins with parking lot, access road renovation

JERSEYVILLE – Jersey Community Hospital (JCH) is making progress on its parking lot with the addition of access roads around the campus installed this week.

JCH Director Larry Bear said that this portion is part of its emergency room renovation and expansion which is targeted to begin in 2009.

“The weather is encouraging,” Bear said about the recent weather which has made work progress.

He said the plan is to get the rear roadway, the clinic parking area and most of the new ER parking completed by the end of the week.

Pending additional weather delays, he added, a new entry way and replacement of the existing ER lot should be complete by the end of September.

The project will not only increase parking but will make entry and exit from the campus safer, open the back of the campus and keep traffic away from the emergency room.
